Hi guys! I am looking for a mechanic to help out and send my wife's car to as Im stationed in Korea and usually turn the wrench on our cars. She went for a quote and of course they tried to do the usual this and that replacement filler lines etc...she called them out on their bullshit. So I call out to my fellow Jalops as to any assistance of any suggestions of where to look or know anybody. Here is a picture of what "my office" looks like as a way to say thanks.

Looks like the squelch in the blue position marker is a bit low. Send the new guy to the tool room and have him get a can of blue squelch.

Are you at Tyndall?
As for your question, I have only been to a Grease Pro while visiting extended family there who tried to nickle and dime me but the price of the actual repair was comparable to other places.

It would help if we knew what kind of car she has.

Not in Panama City, FL myself or nearby, but it might be worth shopping a little outside the city. Independent service stations are among the most likely to feel the squeeze in terms of costs to stay open *in* the city, and if you find a good one into the outskirts or past city limits and into the country, they're less likely to be infected by the RUSH RUSH DECEIVE MUST MAKE PROFIT bug.
The thing to do might be to ask around among friends in the suburbs or beyond. One solid recommendation is worth a hundred attractive yellowpages entries.

I'd be happy to see what comes up on the list of AAA approved repair facilities in PCF, but I need the year, make and model of the car.

Is the Hobby Shop still open and operating on base in FL (I assume you're wife is at Tyndall)? If not, what about some of your old co-workers? You know for a fact we (mechanics) work for booze, now they may make a pass at her so you've got to watch out for that...

I know what you mean, not stationed there. We were at Spangdahlem before that. She just likes the area while I am over here.

I entered the car info and the Zip Code for Tyndall (32403), searched in a 40 mile radius and found nothing. Hell, it didn't find anything for Mobile either, and I find that a bit suspect. It's entirely possible that the AAA search is no good. If you're a member, I'd suggest giving them a call.
